Migraine Rating Levels
Other headache conditions are often rated by analogy. 2026 pay for a veteran with no dependents.
“Prostrating” and “Economic Inadaptability”
Prostrating generally means the attack forces you to stop and lie down until it passes. If you can keep working through it, it usually won’t count.
Severe economic inadaptability, needed for 50%, doesn’t require unemployment. Frequent absences, leaving early or reduced hours because of migraines can qualify.
Proving How Often
- Log every attack for several months: date, length, whether you lay down, work missed.
- Share the log with your doctor so your records match it.
- Ask a spouse or coworker who has seen attacks for a short written statement.
Migraines commonly connect to service through a TBI from blasts or vehicle accidents, PTSD, neck injuries, tinnitus, or headaches that began during service.
